Hi filipino friends

We have heard about the horendous flood you are experiencing and obviously are concerned for you all

Not sure what we, from other countries, can do to help, but if there are any material things you need perhaps we can send out some stuff to those in need.

Use this post for now for any urgent supplies and I will ask a couple of pinoy admins/helpers to help co-ordinate

We hope you all remain safe and we are thinking of you

Just got electricity back an hour ago..(more than 12 hours of no electricity)
luckily my house wasn't flooded..
but yesterday(during the peek of the storm) i took a walk and saw the more unfortunately placed houses..
first floor was partially to completely flooded..
the houses beside the river were completely engulfed..
wooden houses were being carried away by the river's current..
even saw people being carried away by the river :|
scenes only normally seen on TV..

anyway..

yeah..i am willing to cooperate if TJ family has some plans...
i am numpty..

for those in the US, you can call the American Red Cross 1.800.435.7669 to donate funds. Just tell them its for the typhoon in the Philippines. That's all i know.

It's very hard to determine what they need at this point because there's still no cell signal and mostly we are all concerned for the people who are missing!

Thanks for your concern though. We are all helping each other to rebuild whatever is broken!

All of us at Triplejack wish to extend our best wishes to all of our friends in the Philippines during this difficult time. We hope you are all well as well as your friends and family. Having survived Hurricane Wilma where our power was out for a week and much of our neighborhood destroyed, I truly understand how terrifying this can be. What I learned from it is that in the end, cities and homes can be rebuilt and the thing that matters most is that your loved ones are OK and I hope this is the case for all of our friends in the Philippines.

God Bless,

Viday

Terribly sad to hear the tragic loss of life and the damage. All I wanted to say is that I am thinking of you all. Not only the TJ Filipino friends I have made but also for your family & friends & countrymen & wish you all the very best in his difficult time. Very sorry to hear the damage to your house Sphy, thank god your safe. Also I saw some chat from Jacksaint where there was severe financial damage to your wifes work; all the best mate. I am not sure what I can offer to assist other than my time in whatever relief support there is and also rally some of my workmates to send funds through these relief networks. We recently had a terrible bushfires which caused great loss of life & damage and know there will be better times to come for you all. The human spirit is strong, in times like this we come together. Please know that we are thinking of you.

Thank you very much for all your concern. This has indeed been a tragic experience to a lot of people here. Crikey thank you very much as well for your concern about the wife's losses. Right now, some areas are still in rescue mode, and some are in the asessment and cleaning up stages. I agree with bananasplit, the best way to send relief is through the red cross, unless there are specific people we need to address. This is because donations if send by bulk may be considered taxable and undergo red tape that it may come too late. Right now, we are busy sorting out clothes and furnishings again and this is just to give to people we personally know who were affected by the calamity. Just to give you an idea of the extent of the damage, in my wife's office alone, 50% was affected and needs relief. I expect that such will be the case all over.

Local people who are able to may be willing to help through relief agencies either in kind or in person, like helping sort and bag relief goods as relief centers are right now in need of such.

To all our TJ friends who have been affected, don't hesitate to voice out your needs. To all our TJ friends, again thank you very much for your concern. With God's help and blessing and your prayers, we will overcome.

I heard what have happened there from news and from my filippino friends too. I'm with you from all my heart and i wish you the bests. I hope you'll recover very well and the things what have been destroyed will be back soon. I really hope that none of you lost any relatives or friends. I know how big trouble is a disaster like that flood. In my country(Hungary) there are some floods and ice raining but not as bad as that one was in Phils. Try to help each other who you can coz that makes you real patriots and most of the ppl need that care what you can offer. It doesn't matter how you help each other just do it. I really hope you all be fine soon.

Best wishes!
HUN's special

To all Tj guys and gals
Thank you very much for all the shower of concerns and prayers. It really was a first time experience for me and my family but rest assured we are all safe. Material damages are nothing compared to if we had been bodily harmed. Again, thank you to everyone.

though the place where my family and i are staying is not heavily affected by the typhoon as compared to the flash flood in manila where millions of properties and hundreds of lives have been lost, but with the news report that i've been seeing and hearing every night, i can honestly say that my heart shares the pain especially to those who have lost their loved ones. admin bbq, thanks showing your concern by posting this forum. to my international friends out there.. thank you for showing your readiness to help out. truly, you guys have shown your worth as friends not only in good times, but also in this moment of difficulty. to my fellow countrymen, this tragedy that struck our land is, undoubtedly, devastating (i myself have yet to know the actual condition of my brother who lives and works at marikina). but as viday had said, "cities and homes can be rebuilt and the thing that matters most is that your loved ones are OK." come to think of it.. what good is it really for a man to gain the whole world but lose his own soul??? this is exactly what pains my heart--it's not the loss of millions of properties, which could be regained or rebuilt anytime, but it's the loss of lives, which could no longer be revived.

after reading this post, i immediately called up a friend of mine early this afternoon; we agreed to send out financial donation first thing tomorrow through an organization that we are currently in contact with. this situation can no longer be delayed. let's combine our efforts and do what needs to be done.
